B2B Buyer Behaviour Consultant.

If you are selling a service in the B2B marketplace and want to increase your close rate, the quality of your leads and improve the efficiency of your sales process, I can help.

My passion and expertise are in buyer behaviour and how to sell services. I offer training and support to individuals and companies who want to improve their sales process, close more sales and generate better fit clients.

One of the challenges of selling a service is that it isn’t a physical product that your customers can touch and feel. What you are selling is invisible and largely based on your knowledge, expertise and technical know-how.  That means selling and putting a value on your expertise. Consequently, many fall into the trap of trying to persuade and convince someone to buy from us as opposed to creating a great buying experience for that customer which results in a new, well suited customer for you.

Who is this for?

  • Consultants
  • Coaches
  • IT consultants
  • Accountants
  • Agencies
  • Software and new technology

If you are ambitious and determined:

  • to improve your sales process
  • to generate better quality leads
  • reduce wasted time with people who are never going to buy from you
  • increase your close rate

Then this course was designed for you.

Buyer Behaviour and Sales Service training

My buyer behaviour and sales service training program is built upon three fundamental principles;

  1. Qualification – Qualifying your prospects in advance and throughout the early stages of your business development process to assess their suitability and viability.
  2. Credibility – Establishing YOUR credibility early in your process and throughout & how to avoid giving free advice to prove you’re credible.
  3. Permission – Using micro-permissions and only ever moving forward in your process when your prospect gives permission to do so.

“Through working with Gerry, I was able to learn and further develop a number of my core skills including presentation skills, writing skills and having a positive dialogue whilst discussing sensitive topics.

Gerry is a great person to work with due to his lovely and bubbly personality, great sense of humour, empathy, patience and the ability to develop one’s self esteem.

After working with Gerry, our team became more effective, bonded better and were able to understand their roles and their personal skills in relation to their roles within the organisation.

I was also able to communicate far more effectively with my team on many different levels and to a far higher strategic level. Gerry has so much passion for what he does and goes above and beyond his call of duty.

I was particularly touched when Gerry scanned my dissertation to ensure I always have an electronic copy. I had lost the original electronic copy when my laptop got accidentally damaged.

The staff always remember Gerry for his helpful and caring ways.

I absolutely would highly recommend Gerry to any organisation “

Tina Latifah Jones

Social Worker, Trainer and Co Founder of STaSS UK and Ghana

“I’ve known Gerry Forristal on a professional level for over a decade. He is as bright as a button and you can always rely on him to provide honest, direct, supportive and sound business advice.

Gerry is creative and a gifted writer and presenter who never fails to engage his audience.  As a Consultant, he is intuitive, innovative, creative, challenging and worth every penny. He is able to combine his experience of people and processes into a deeper understanding of buyer behaviour and sales processes.

Gerry is a valued colleague and friend who I would happily recommend to any organisation or individual looking to benefit from a Consultant specialising in B2B Buyer Behaviour, Sales Process & Business Process Design.

Tracy Daniels

Agile Consultant, Hamlin Daniels Ltd.

“I’ve worked with Gerry in a number of different capacities since the mid 1990’s. In fact I don’t think I could count how many times we have worked together over the years. Be it producing my student short film in the late 90’s, as production designer on corporate events, working on festivals, clubs, gigs and even radio in the sunny south east of Ireland, we’ve covered a lot in that time.

While the situations and projects might have changed, and we’ve gotten a little bit older, Gerry has always brought a fantastic set of skills to the table.

He is one of the most positive and proactive people I have ever met and he has a real can do attitude.

Gerry will get the best out of people and situations, and has a real talent of identifying business opportunities.

When you add these together you have a person who can tease out ideas and put them in action, successfully.

There’s not too many people like that around and that’s why I can’t recommend Gerry enough.”

Luke Abbot

Account Director at BBH London

“Gerry is an ‘out of the box’ thinker and comes up with ideas and routes you wouldn’t otherwise think of.

Having Gerry onboard is just like having another member on the board and can help to grow any business and build profitablility.

He is very personable and gets on with everyone he meets and I can highly recommend getting in touch with Gerry if you are a business owner or senior decision maker.”

Steve Roberts

Owner, Avatar Vehicles

“Gerry has a vast background of experience on which to draw from. He’s an extremely focussed guy who believes passionately in his clients businesses and is excited to share his experience and knowledge with others.

Gerry consulted with the management team in our engineering company which enabled us to look at our own behavioural profiles, and that of our colleagues, in order to understand how each other “ticks” and then to be able to communicate more effectively, as a team. Trust me… we have seen the immense benefits come through!

Maybe I could sum up by saying in all sincerity, that with Gerry it’s a case of, “what you see, is what you get”…not forgetting a sprinkling of Irish humour!

Go on, get in touch with him, you won’t regret it!

Denise Maclennan

Financial Director,

“Gerry provided invaluable help to Cazinc with his Buyer Behaviour/Sales Process training consulting, which we undertook in 2013 and which immediately made a huge difference in how we approach business development and sales.

Since Gerry first worked with us we’ve seen a marked increase in the amount and quality of new work won, and we have continued to work with him ever since – including as partners in new projects.

Gerry is engaging, fun and always a pleasure to work with.

Zach Anthony

Director , Cazinc Digital Ltd.

“Blairmore Farm & Estates have been working with Gerry since its inception in 2013.  His coaching and consultancy skills have helped us as owners drive our business towards our goals.

We have been able to use Gerry not only as a sounding board but also use his experience in sales and marketing to target our message in-line with our sales and delivery processes to ensure that our guests are receiving the highest quality service and product that we can provide.

Gerry’s ability to break down and simplify processes ensured that we are able to provide a 5 star service within the confines of a small dedicated team.

I would have no hesitation in recommending Gerry.”

Ailsa Clark

Director, Blairmore Farm & Estates Ltd.

“As a newly self employed tailor, I found myself in a new world where I knew some things, but not others. For one, I knew my Job, but that was the easy part. What I didn’t know, was my business.

I met with Gerry Forristal, who put me at ease by explaining that with systems and processes in place, anything is possible. “What systems and processes?” I asked.

Gerry very diligently took the time to ask me very pertinent questions about the information that runs through my business. Where does it go? Who needs to know it. What effect would the lack of information (or even too much information) have on the process?

Process Mapping became an easy task, and forming the reports that I needed for each part of the business. Writing a manual for processes also became a focus, and is something that I still practice to this day.

Gerry made everything seem a lot easier than I thought it would be, and the results began to bear fruit.

He also helped me to understand how a customer thinks, and where the customer fits in my business plan. Importantly, how to find that customer and how to hone in on their needs and wants. Understanding the behaviour of a potential customer helped enormously in understanding that sometimes to win a client, you need time and patience.

If you need to bring more clarity to your working procedures and practices, don’t hesitate, work with Gerry.

I look forward to working with him again in the not to distant future when I begin to scale up my new business, the Edinburgh Tailoring Company.

Christopher McGowan

Director, The Edinburgh Tailoring Company

“I have known Gerry for over seven years through our relationship in business group Bounce where he is Board Development Director and founding member.

In Bounce, we act as non-executive advisers to our Bounce membership and in that time I have had wonderful support and coaching from Gerry on how to grow my business, improve my marketing, as well as his support in promoting and selling learning events.

When Gerry gets involved interest, attendance and profits go up. As a Buyer Behaviour Consultant, Gerry really knows his stuff, his expertise is deep and wide.

Combined with a consulting style that is not hard sell, but more about relationship building and partnering, you feel listened to and supported.

He is well organised and always delivers!”

Catherine Thomson

Managing Partner, The Houston Exchange

“I’ve been working with Gerry for a number of years now to help with the clarification and implementation of a more effective and targeted sales strategy for my business.

I run a digital communications agency that works with a number of high profile clients throughout the UK. Often our work sees us creating digital content that is used in the sales process, but our work is only one small cog in a larger machine.

Working with Gerry has given us a much stronger strategic approach to our own sales process as we found we were struggling to clearly position ourselves and authentically close our leads in a way that worked for both us, and more importantly our clients.

I think what stands out with Gerry’s approach is his determination to develop a strategy for us that was in-line with our own ethos; to be honest, authentic and unambiguous. Certainly in sales this is often a tall order, but Gerry was able to navigate our requirements with ease.

Most importantly, his advice and process has yielded great results since we’ve been able to implement them.

I’d confidently recommend anyone to work with Gerry who finds themselves at the helm of a company with a flatlining sales performance that is in need of some help to get things moving in the right direction.”

Luke Yerbury

Managing Director, Brand Calibre Ltd.

“We retained Gerry Forristal several times over five years when we felt that sales staff needed help.

Gerry focused on creating and habituating processes. It is easy to create a process but much harder to keep sales people to a process and Gerry was very helpful to that end.

Gerry worked with new hires and with the established team. Another project was counselling sales staff on their communications techniques by email and phone.

Because of the importance of the task Gerry reported on it to our CEO, and was a delightfully easy person to work with.”

Gav Don

Co-founder Newbase Ltd

“I have known Gerry Forristal and his work for the past 5 years as we are involved in the same non-exec business owners group, which he helped to establish.

Gerry is passionate about helping his clients to succeed by assisting them to improve, develop and implement business strategies, controls and procedures.

What I particularly like about Gerry is his integrity – he is always thinking whether he continues to be able to add value for his clients.  This includes on occasions simply telling clients that they are now ready to continue on their own without continuing to engage and pay for his services.

Other business advisers would simply continue to take their client’s money

Highly Recommended.”

Barry Stewart

Director 180 Advisory Solutions Limited

“We hired Gerry to work on a project with my team of audiologists. This was to help drive awareness of the services we offer within my business to the other store partners and increase the average transaction value within my team.

To do this, we spent 20 months working together with my team and co-directors. We all really engaged and enjoyed working with Gerry. His approach to buyer behaviour was simple but very effective.

The format that Gerry used for this process was done in such a way that it slotted into my current processes quite easily, meaning less disruption for the team and resulted, ultimately, in a higher ATV (Average Transaction Value).

What I learnt from this process with Gerry was to make sure I was always engaging with my team, checking in with them and making sure they were comfortable and competent in applying our proprietory Patient Engagement Process, which Gerry helped us develop.

Having worked with Gerry, the one thing it taught me was to spend more time with my team, even if it was to just pick up the phone for a quick chat. I learnt that it was okay to delegate tasks to team members, as this made them feel valued and established trust.

Since working with Gerry, I have been able to take more time for myself to work on my business rather than simply in the business. This has also allowed me more personal time.

I would recommend any new or established business owner to use Gerry’s services.”

Jonathan Bell RHAD, MSHAA, Fd Sc (Audiology)

Director, Specsavers Edinburgh Hearcare Ltd

“My business partner and I have worked with Gerry on and off for many years.

We have him to thank for prompting formative discussions and decision making in the early years of our business; sessions which we still reflect on today (8 years on).

Consulting with Gerry is always incredibly useful and enjoyable and I’d highly recommend him to anyone needing direction and support, particularly in these ‘uncertain’ times.”

Sophie Richards

Creative Director, Flock Design & Advertising

“I had the pleasure of working with Gerry during one of his buyer behaviour workshops.

You can read all the books, listen to all the podcasts, watch all the videos. What you cannot get from that is the genuine enthusiasm and passion that Gerry throws down. Every session I left the room with a brain boiling over with ideas and ways to improve professionally and personally.

The thing that really struck me was how Gerry’s sessions made it clear that the customer’s experience is relevant to everyone in the company, not just front line sales and marketing.

If you want an experienced, passionate and uber-charismatic buyer behaviour consultant… well there’s only one. It’s Gerry.”

“Having known Gerry in a personal and professional capacity, he was our absolute first choice when seeking to train staff on buyer behaviour. Gerry is the epitome of the “friendly professional.” He takes the time to learn about your business, your goals and issues you are facing. His credibility is unquestionable and makes all staff attending his training feel valued and capable.

We knew this training would be extremely valuable but underestimated the scale of value this training would add to our company as a whole. Our entire approach to customer identification and conversion has changed. Each member of staff was able explore their own mindset and characteristics in order to better understand the difference between potential clients’ train of thought and decision making processes. Understanding when to have the “emotional” and “statistical” conversations has created an entire knew process which has led to a large increase in client numbers and the amount of products and services supplied to existing customers.

Working with Gerry was fantastic. Staff looked forward to our weekly training and practiced everything covered between inputs. He has an incredible approach where each part of the course is incredibly interesting and thought provoking. He instilled absolute confidence that we were learning from a true subject expert; his knowledge and ability to tailor the training to suit our company was extremely impressive.

Following our training, our entire sales and customer interface process has been re-mapped. Gerry gave us the tools, knowledge and understanding to be able to identify the type of person we were speaking with and approach the conversation in a manner that would appeal to them.

In addition to us experiencing a measurable growth in customer conversion, there has also been a noticeable change in our office culture. This training has, without doubt, increased the emotional intelligence of all who attended. People are more understanding of the different learning styles and approaches of others; this has led to a very harmonious and productive team ethic environment being created.

I would not only recommend employers to work with Gerry, I would positively urge you to. There is not a business operating that would not benefit immensely from this training. Regardless of size or industry sector, Gerry will provide staff with exceptional knowledge and understanding to fully understand the type of conversations that lead to increased sales and client numbers.”

Keith Harrhy

Director Robert Richards Associates

“In our business, communication with clients is key, Gerry has been extremely helpful in getting the best out of our client conversations.

Different people react to different methods of communication and Gerry has given the team the tools and knowledge to help make client conversation easier and more productive for our clients.

Gerry has a very forthright and honest manner and makes learning fun. He peppers the sessions with practical issues and breaks them down so the team assist in finding the solution and therefore taking ownership, coming away with their ‘killer questions’ that are now used every day in our business.

We would certainly recommend Gerry as you will get training tailored to your needs delivered in a friendly and proactive way.”

Stephen Docherty

Director, SD Business Management Ltd.

“No Business is to big or small to see the benefits of Gerry’s craft. I have seen first-hand up close and personal, for many years the results of Gerry’s work though our involvement within a business mentoring group.

Public, private, large or small, organisations of all shapes and sizes will reap the rewards of Gerry’s touch. He’ll work with you to peel back to the core of your administration to get to the route of your DNA and help you find your Why, the driving purpose of your business.

With that he will work with you to develop a path using his proven methods and structural processes to deliver tangible results and reach your desired goals.

Gerry brings his vast wealth of experience, delivering a wide range of Public and Private projects. His experience and results have transformed businesses, influencing sectors such as; Tourism, Finance, Insurance, Software Development and IT Infrastructure to name just a few.

I would definitely recommend you speak to Gerry if you feel your organisation is in need of realignment.”

Simon Cantle

Director Happysmile Promotional Products

“Sales is a process so don’t stress about getting the business in – putting a process in place will take care of that. Seems obvious now but at the time we had no formal sales background and this mindset change was instrumental in the success we experienced once Gerry had worked his magic.

Gerry is a very personable chap and manages to deliver those awkward and difficult questions with a non-judgemental air that puts you at ease. He got to grips with our business model very quickly and was able to offer insightful feedback that really challenged us to be a better management team. We became much more focused at working on the business and implementing systems and processes that would free us up to do what we love doing.

Initially, Gerry helped us with a very tricky situation with a fellow Director. Gerry’s approach of asking those tough questions of us all and coaxing those answers from us was instrumental in allowing us to drive the business in the direction it needed to go in order to survive. Latterly though, the principle of identifying a process to solve challenges has impacted all aspects of our business and is a key reason why we continue to thrive.

I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Gerry – every business needs a “Gerry” – he continues to be a great sounding board for the business and for me personally.”

Justin Hutton-Penman

MD at Flock (Owner) Integrated campaign planning & delivery

“What can I say about Gerry Forristal. Firstly there must be some reason why we as a firm keep using his services. Why Gerry when we have not renewed contracts with any other trainers?

He is challenging, exacting and he knows what we want and helps us achieve what we need to do in order that we can improve our service. He will make you focus on what you do, why you do it and what you should do. He puts you into the mind of your client so that you can focus on what their needs are to ensure that we can all achieve an agreed sustainable strategy to help each other achieve their needs.

I do not want anyone to tell me how to sell. What I am looking for is someone who can help us as firm provide the best possible outcomes and experience for our clients.

When Gerry talks about buyer behaviour, it is nothing to do with selling but all about what we can do to ensure that our clients can have the best experience possible working with my team. He fits with our ethos that we can build a long term partnership with our clients.

If you are after a very “quick buck sale” or after techniques to sell sell sell, don’t use Gerry. But if your intention is to produce a long term profitable and enjoyable experience for both your clients, your team and yourself you had better speak with him.”
